Removal of used EPS

EPS can be reused and combusted without problems.

Clean, white EPS, and the material, which is being cut off during the production, is granulated, and will be reused at the production of e.g. insulation materials, packaging and loose fill. Granulated EPS can also be mixed with concrete for insulation concrete, or with earth for soil improvement for horticulture, without any risk of pollution. Besides this EPS can be melted and converted to polystyrene, to be used for other plastic products, as e.g. garden furniture, hangers, flowerpot trays.

Dirty or second hand EPS can be combusted in an incinerator, usefully contributing to the production of district heating, as EPS has a calorific value similar to oil. At the incinerator EPS is being mixed with other types of waste, and the material is being fully combusted at a temperature of more than 800ºC. The material only gives off pure carbon dioxide (CO2) and water.

We can also offer to take back EPS waste. When the waste has been returned, it will be compressed and go on for recycling.
